Below is a brief outline of the history of Henrys Cars
The business was established in 1927 at the original Maxwell Road site.
Then in 1979, the business was bought by Alex Henry.
In 1980, Henrys acquired the Honda franchise in Glasgow.
Due to rapid expansion of the business, in 1991 a separate PDI (pre-delivery inspection) centre was purchased.
In 1998, with an investment of £2.2 million, a purpose built Honda site was opened on Titwood Road, Glasgow.
In the same year, Henrys was awarded the ŠKODA franchise at the Maxwell Road site.
In 2007, Henrys added a second ŠKODA franchise at Kyle Street in Glasgow.
In 2008, Henrys closed their ŠKODA site at Maxwell Road and moved all of their ŠKODA operations to Kyle Street making it the Number 1 ŠKODA dealership in the UK.
In 2009, Henrys completely revamped their existing PDI centre into a used car site, Henrys Trade Car Centre. This Centre offers trade car prices direct to the public!
Name changes from Henrys Trade Centre to Henrys CarsUnder5. Henrys felt that the Trade Centre name deterred customers away thinking it was for Car Traders only. Promoting Used Cars Under £5000 is now the fresh new approach to marketing this Used Car facility.
Henrys take on the SsangYong franchise further adding to the wide range of vehicles now available from Henrys. SsangYong was acquired by Indian Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd in February 2011. With its reputation for pulling and 4x4 ability, the SsangYong range is a great franchise to acquire.
In 2015 Henrys invested close to £500,000 in a complete refurbishment of their ŠKODA site on Kyle Street. This consisted of a brand new customer handover bay, new exterior signage and a complete refurbishment of the showroom and service reception areas. The project endeavours to ensure customers are able to view a larger representation of the ŠKODA new car range in a more favourable showroom environment.
Henrys have been appointed to represent the Suzuki brand in the Glasgow and Paisley territories. The new contemporary 12-car showroom located in the south of Glasgow follows a significant £800,000 investment in this facility. Suzuki customers have access to an experienced sales team, aftersales facilities and a hospitality area complete with complementary Wi-Fi and refreshments.
